China’s export restrictions cause longer lead times for magnetic materials
Dear valued business partners,
The international trade tensions, triggered by the imposed tariffs by the US, has led China to put export restrictions, also for Europe, on materials that are crucial to produce magnet systems. These restrictions have resulted in the need to apply for export permits, which is a cumbersome process with a lot of red tape and uncertain outcomes on top of delays.
Goudsmit Magnetics has been putting all the needed resources in place since these export restrictions were put in place by the Chinese government. Despite a number of visits to China by a team of Goudsmit people to try to accelerate the process, we must inform you that we can’t guarantee that 100% of our needs will be shipped on time to us. To illustrate, last week we have again managed to get an export permit for some new shipments, however the speed with which those orders are processed in China is a bit unpredictable.
Therefor please reach out to your Goudsmit representative for status updates on availability and please anticipate leadtimes which are at least two months longer compared to the period prior to the export restrictions
