Magnetic filters - hygienic - Clean In Place

These hygienic CIP filters are designed according to the highest requirements of the food and pharmaceutical industry. For magnetic filtering of fine ferrous contaminants - such as stainless steel wear particles - from your liquid and powder flows in pressure pipes up to 10 bar.
Completely automatic cleaning (CIP/SIP: Clean/Steam In Place).

Application: Food & pharma product flows in CIP-cleaned pressure pipes

This type of hygienic magnetic filter is specially designed for food and pharmaceutical pressure lines that are cleaned CIP or SIP. The transported products are often liquids or powders with a risk of bacterial growth. Suited for pressures up to 10 bar and temperatures up to 140 °C. We can calculate the precise pressure drop with these filters in your situation for gaseous or liquid products using our FEM software. The pressure drop depends on the physical properties of your product flow (viscosity) and its speed. Please contact us about this.

Construction & materials data

Short description
This filter has an optimal hygienic design for cleaning CIP or SIP in pressure pipes up to 10 bar. You can choose from various common connection types. Executed with one thick magnetic bar in a tube located in the centre of the product channel. The magnetic bar can be blown pneumatically IN / OUT the product channel inside the tube. See tab 'Working principle' for further explanation.

Working principle: Filtering & discharging of ferrous impurities

How does the magnetic filtering work?
The very strong neodymium magnetic bar is positioned in the middle of the product flow. The product with ferrous impurities passes this bar while flowing through the filter. The magnet attracts passing ferromagnetic contaminants; the captured particles stick to the magnet, while the purified product flows further.

How does the cleaning / iron discharging work?
Cleaning of captured metal particles is completely automatic; suitable for CIP (Cleaning In Place) and/or SIP (Steaming In Place). Once the product stream is stopped, the magnetic rods are pneumatically 'blown' to the OUT position, at which point the Fe particles fall off of the tubes. This can be done at the same time the pipes are being flushed clean, so the captured ferrous particles are carried away with the flushing liquid. After stopping the product flow, pneumatically blow the magnetic rod to the OFF position. As a result, the ferrous particles fall from the tube onto the filter bottom. By cleaning the CIP / SIP pipe, you can dispose of the captured ferrous particles with the flushing agent.

Cleaning / iron discharging sequence

  1. Stop the product flow.
  2. Ensure that all clean product is out of the pipeline.
  3. Blow the magnet pneumatically OUT of the product channel.
The ferrous particles will now fall off the tubes, to the bottom of the filter.
  4. CIP/SIP clean the pipeline, including the magnetic filter.
  5. Blow the magnet back IN the product channel.
  6. Restart the product flow.
