Logistical delays around Chinese New Year

File

Experience shows that production in China largely comes to a standstill around Chinese New Year. In 2026, Chinese New Year falls on Tuesday 17 February, with an official holiday period (Spring Festival) from roughly mid-February to the end of February. As a result, magnet manufacturers and suppliers may deliver less or not at all for a short period, which can affect the availability of magnetic materials. Consequently, lead times for magnets and assemblies may be longer than usual.

This year, lead times may also be further impacted by the current export restrictions and the associated licensing procedures. Transport can also be delayed during the same period, but the biggest impact is usually caused by the production shutdown and the ramp-up phase at manufacturers.

To support our customers as well as possible, Goudsmit has its own office in Ningbo and a specialised team that coordinates licence applications and actively manages stock levels. So far, no licence application has been rejected; however, longer lead times are unavoidable.

Do you have a time-critical schedule? We recommend ordering as early as possible or planning additional stock. If you would like to align the expected lead time for a specific product or project, please contact your usual Goudsmit representative.
